Resident Evil 6

This is more of a question than an actual thought, so here it goes. Who here is looking forward to the new Resident Evil game? I know  that I am thrilled to be able to play through three separate storylines. Endless hours of zombie-killing fun anyone?

Comment your opinions on the upcoming Resident Evil 6 if you've got them.

Resident Evil: Retribution

In my humble opinion this is the best movie of the five that are out now. It has some of the most well known game characters in it and they've poured a cornucopia of our favorite bad guys into the mix. There are some reviewers who say there is no story arc that connects all the movies but that is why I say leave reviewing game movies to the people who actually know the game. I realize the movie is a different entity than the game, but most game-to-movie movies have a basis in the games. And that's what Resident Evil has, even though they added Alice to the mix making it even more bad ass... it is still a battle against Umbrella Corp. and hordes of undead and mutations. To prove my point I will give a brief synopsis that doesn't give anything away for those who haven't seen it. The first movie began the chain of events leading to the zombie apocalypse, then they skip ahead several months to Raccoon City (game reference) where the outbreak has begun. After that they skip ahead several years (like they do in the games) to a post zombie apocalypse world where zombies won out and Umbrella is still Nefarious. Resident Evil: Afterlife skips ahead another several months or years and shows what the Umbrella Corps. experiments have turned the zombies into with the flower mouths. And finally Resident Evil: Retribution picks up where 4 left off, on the ship... but you know they were going to do that from the final scene in 4 with Evil Jill rallying her troops. So basically reviewers out there, if you don't have a basic understanding of the game series and it's use of time skipping, you shouldn't pretend you can give an accurate review of the movie.

The Ins and Outs of Gaming.

First and foremost you need to decide which system, or systems you want to mainline. Then you need to figure out your niche (are you a straight-to-the-action type or are you in it for the story). Once you have these two pieces of info you should get a couple of controllers because you might have a friend over at some point and switching off at each death isn't as fun as it sounds. You can go wireless or corded but it doesn't really matter. If you don't have an Ethernet connection in the gaming room but you want online gaming capability then you have to get a wireless adapter that is system compatible.

Now for the process of buying games. Once you've figured out what you're best at you should use a rental service or borrow from your friends to play through a few levels and make sure that you really want the game before you even think about buying it. But make no mistake you should not limit yourself to just what you're good at, if you do so you'll never improve at the games you aren't so great at. Always aim to improve, never sell yourself short.

If you are great at shooters then the best selections in my opinion are:
1. The Modern Warfare series
2. Call Of Duty: World at War- Black Ops 2
3. The Halo Series

If third person story-driven games are your strong suite:
1. The Mass Effect series
2. The Assassin's Creed series
3. The Star Wars: Force Unleashed series

I will do several more posts like these recommending more awesome games and gear.

Top Five Video Games in my humble opinion

The top five video games thus far in my humble opinion are as follows:
1. Mass Effect 3
2. Assassin's Creed: Revelations
3. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
4. Kingdoms of Amalur
5. Saint's Row: The Third

Mass Effect 3 took the number 1 spot because despite the complaints about the ending and the final fight, overall it was the best game of the series. The programmers really pulled out all the stops for this one, and honestly... who didn't want to see Jack remind Commander Shepard  about their little party below decks in the second game. As for the final fight, for those who said it was a disappointment... next time actually play the fight rather than watching your buddy do it.

Revelations scored number 2 for several reasons. First of all the music, it was the best I've heard in a game in a long time. Secondly, the in-depth storyline behind the gameplay. How can you not love scaling buildings and proving who the real parkour master is. Plus the hidden blade and the new hook blade add a whole new range of assassination animations that'll make your jaw drop.

Skyrim would've been higher on the list had they made some of the side quests like Dark Brotherhood and The Thieves Guild a little more in depth. I want to be able to expand their reach across Skyrim, maybe run raids on the Cyrodil Thieves Guild or something. There are so many possibilities for the guilds that remain unexplored. But I love being able to build my own home and build a family. And the Dawnguard dlc is amazing as well. The graphics are amazing in this game and the seamless transitions from day to night are nearly flawless.

Kingdoms of Amalur is number 4 because though it has an amazing storyline and comprehensive gameplay the graphics are somewhat lacking. The music is good and the combat system is perfect, but there's just not enough to do.

Saints Row: The Third landed at number 5 because though it is ridiculous fun for the whole gang-banging family, it is just seriously lacking in story and originality. It's basically just like the other Saints Row games... a Grand Theft Auto rip off. A fun rip off but a rip off none the less. I want to not only be able to suck them up in my man cannon and shoot them out, I want to be able to shoot them wherever I want and if I shoot them at a window, I want them to go through it, not bounce off of it. I like the game for mindless run and shoot shenanigans but for a challenge and actual mental stimulation, it is a no-go.

Shadow signing off,
                           Good Night everyone.
